Chief Technology & Information Officer

Mallik Rao has been Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO) of Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG since end of October 2019 and is responsible for the mobile and fixed network as well as the IT of Telefónica Deutschland.
Mallik Rao has more than 25 years of experience in the international telecommunications industry. He began his professional career in 1993 at TATA Telecom. This was followed by several positions: After 7 years in Technology & Solutions at ERICSSON, he moved to Nortel Networks, where he worked in Wireless Business PLM (Product Lifecycle Management). Mallik Rao assumed his first leadership position as CTO at the Indian mobile communications provider Aircel for 3 years between 2008 to 2012. He joined the Vodafone Group in 2012, where he initially held the role of Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO) for Vodafone Netherlands. There he was responsible for both Dutch and Eastern European markets.
Since September 2015, he has held the same position at Vodafone Turkey.
Mallik Rao holds bachelor's degree in communications engineering from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Aurangabad in India. Mallik Rao was born in Govindinne Village / India in 1969.He is married and has two children.
As Vice President and Head of Core Networks at Ericsson, Monica is responsible for the Core Networks portfolio, with a strong focus on 5G Core, making 5G become a reality for our global customers. The portfolio spans across the full market leading cloud native 5G Core network functions including Packet Core, Communication Services UDM, Network exposure and Cloud.
In addition to her own development, Monica is also very active in establishing the right partnerships and collaborations in the industry to further benefit the evolution of 5G.
Monica is a global leader and public speaker with 20+ years of experience with Ericsson internationally and has successfully held various management positions in the Business Area as well in the regional organization. Most recently she was Head of Solution Area Packet Core (leading the global portfolio for Packet Core, subscriber data management, policy and Network exposure). Prior to this she headed up Solution Area Communication Services (leading the global portfolio for VoLTE, signaling and MSS). Monica was also previously based in Dallas, US with the responsibility to lead the Communication Services practice for North America.
Monica holds a Master´s degree in Engineering Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Fredrik Gessler heads Product Management for the Global Network Platform team in Business Area Global Communications Platform, where Vonage and Ericsson capabilities are combined to enable monetization of mobile network capabilities through communications and network APIs.
He has diverse Ericsson experience ranging from senior R&D responsibilities, with system and release responsibilities for the Ericsson Networks products, to heading the Product Line for Network Management, leading the Account for a Nordic operator, and building up and co-leading Ericsson’s strategic partnership with Swisscom, jointly succeeding with the launch of Europe’s first 5G network.
Fredrik holds a PhD in Industrial Economics and Radio Communication Systems, from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden.
Jan Karlsson is Vice President and Head of Global Network Platform program (since June 1, 2022).
Before taking on his current role, Karlsson was the Head of Business Area Digital Services, including software and services in the areas of monetization and management systems (OSS/BSS), telecom core (packet core and communication services), and cloud & NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) infrastructure. Karlsson joined Ericsson in 2014, initially in Latin America where he led the sales and delivery of multiple Full Stack OSS/BSS projects, and from 2017 as the Head of Solution Area Business Support Solutions.
Before joining Ericsson, Karlsson was CEO of DigitalRoute, an independent software vendor focusing on data collection and pre-processing across telco and non-telco verticals. Karlsson holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from ESSEC Business School in France.

Daniel Leimbach (43) is Head of Customer Unit Western Europe since June 2022 and is responsible for the Ericsson business in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Mr. Leimbach has been working in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years. Initially, he worked for five years at Alcatel, among others in the sales area with Deutsche Telekom. After his MBA, he continued his career at Ericsson from 2007. Since then, he has held various management positions as Vice President, worked within the Ericsson Group in Asia and was responsible for the business with Telefónica and Vodafone in Germany.

Mr. Leimbach holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, a Diploma in Business Administration (BA) and a bachelor’s degree from the Open University of London.

Mr. Leimbach is married, has one child and lives with his family in Düsseldorf.
Jan-Peter Meyer-Kahlen is Head of the Ericsson ICT Development Center Ericsson Eurolab in Herzogenrath close to Aachen.

Jan-Peter has been with Ericsson for more than 30 years. During this time he has held several senior management positions in Germany, Canada, and Sweden, for various product and service responsibilities within mobile networks R&D, global customer support and cloud system solutions development.

Jan-Peter Meyer-Kahlen holds a Diploma Degree in Communications Systems Engineering from the Technical University RWTH Aachen.
Dominiks main focus is on the enablement of latency-critical application in telecommunication networks. Previously, he was the program manager for the development and rollout of Narrowband-IoT and headed the product development of an IoT platform. Before joining DT in 2014, Dominik worked 16 years in the automotive industry for BMW. Dominik holds a M.Sc. in electrical engineering as well as in industrial engineering.
Dr. Matteo Fiorani is Head of Distributed Unit, Infrastructure and Security at Ericsson. In his role, Matteo is responsible for steering Ericsson product strategy on Cloud RAN, Open RAN and Security. Matteo leads a team of strategic product managers and he is part of the Ericsson Cloud RAN Product Line. Before this role, Matteo was a Strategic Product Manager for 5G focusing on bringing 5G software features into Ericsson products. Matteo has also a long experience in standardization having been for one year the chair of a work-group in the O-RAN Alliance and for two years a standardization delegate in 3GPP. Matteo holds a PhD in Information and Communications Technology from the University of Modena in Italy, and a Postdoc from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Matteo was also a visiting researcher at Columbia University and University of California Davis in the USA.
Cordula Knüppel is an accomplished professional with a proven track record in the field of marketing and communications. With a rich educational background and extensive global experience, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of renowned multinational corporations.

Following her tenure at GE, Cordula joined the HAHN Group, a global automation and robotics company, as the Director of Marketing where she buit up a Marketing and Communications department. During her professional journey, she gained a broad set of intercultural competences and a challenger mindset by working in various teams and functions on various continents.
